Kevin Stehl APGFCU Chief Experience OfficerEDGEWOOD, Md., (July 17, 2025) – In an era where member expectations are evolving faster than ever, APG Federal Credit Union (APGFCU) invests in leadership that merges innovation with purpose. The credit union is proud to announce the hiring of Kevin Stehl as its new Chief Experience Officer—a strategic move that underscores APGFCU’s commitment to delivering exceptional member experiences through data-driven insight, digital transformation, and unwavering service.

With more than two decades of leadership across institutions like SECU of Maryland, Capital One, and ING Direct, Stehl brings a rare blend of operational depth and creative problem-solving. His appointment reflects APGFCU’s focus on staying ahead of member needs while remaining grounded in the values that have defined the credit union since 1938.

“Kevin’s experience sits squarely at the intersection of innovation, service, and impact,” said Becky Smith, President/CEO of APGFCU. “His ability to lead with both data and heart makes him a powerful addition to our leadership team as we prioritize delivering superior service for our members.”

Most recently, Stehl served as Chief Solutions Officer at SECU, Maryland’s largest credit union, where he led data and analytics, member experience, corporate strategy, and product innovation. He spearheaded enterprise-wide digital transformation efforts, including AI governance, the launch of 65+ self-service dashboards, and significant gains in member satisfaction. His initiatives were recognized not only for their technical sophistication but also for aligning operational performance with member impact.

Prior to SECU, Stehl held senior leadership roles at Capital One and ING Direct, helping build some of the most recognizable direct banking brands in the country. His leadership played a pivotal role in growing deposit portfolios from $7 billion to $70 billion, developing successful products like the Orange Savings Account and Kids Savings Account, and navigating large-scale brand transitions.

Stehl said, “I’m honored to join APGFCU, an organization known for its member-first mindset and strong community roots. I look forward to building on that legacy with innovative, purpose-driven solutions that serve our members today and into the future.”

Stehl’s appointment aligns with APGFCU’s mission to empower members to improve their economic and social well-being, and with its continued investment in digital infrastructure and service design.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Stehl is an active community leader, having served as President of the Fair Hill Nature Center, volunteered with Meals on Wheels and Moveable Feast, mentored students at East Side Charter School, and coached youth sports for over a decade. He also advises several early-stage fintech companies.

He holds executive education certificates in artificial intelligence and strategic management from MIT Sloan and Wharton, an MBA from the University of Delaware, and a bachelor’s degree from Washington College.

With Stehl on board, APGFCU is poised to build on its tradition of member service by delivering even more personalized, seamless, and forward-thinking experiences.
