Free notary services are available to members and joint owners in good standing with the credit union. Notarization for non-members is available only if required for APGFCU transactions. - APGFCU employees may perform the following notarial acts:
- Acknowledgement
- Verification on oath or affirmation of a statement
- Witness or attest to a signature
- Certify or attest a copy of a record
- APGFCU will not notarize the following documents due to their criticality:
- Last Wills and Testaments
- Revocable/Irrevocable Trusts
- Powers of Attorney (unless it is an internal APGFCU document)
- APGFCU notaries cannot:
- Notarize documents where the notarial certificate is absent.
- APGFCU requires the notarial certificate to be affixed to the document. APGFCU will not determine the appropriate certificate.
- A notarial certificate is a written statement, signed and sealed by the notary public, certifying the facts of a notarial act. The two most common notarial acts a notary will be asked to perform are administering oaths and taking acknowledgments.
APGFCU does not participate in conducting remote/electronic notaries.
