EDGEWOOD, Md., June 19, 2019 — Aberdeen Proving Ground Federal Credit Union (APGFCU) Vice President of Human Resources Lisa Mitchell competed at the Dancing for the Arts Gala & Ballroom Competition May 11, 2019, at the Sheraton Baltimore North to benefit the Maryland Center for the Arts.
Mitchell raised over $10,000 through individual and corporate contributions. She also partnered with local restaurants, MaGerks Bel Air and Island Spice Grill and Lounge. The restaurants generously donated 20 percent of the proceeds of each “dine and donate” event to Mitchell’s fundraising efforts.
Mitchell came in first place in the “judges choice” competition among nine other contestants. When asked why she chose to dance in the competition, Mitchell stated, "I competed in this fundraiser because whether it be music, dance or artwork, it is an expression of joy that you give to others to appreciate.”
The Maryland Center for the Arts (MDCFA) provides a broad range of creative and collaborative experiences in all forms of the arts. Funds raised from the gala will contribute to providing access to the needed space to present, exhibit and participate in the arts.
