Posted on Jun 14, 2012 by APGFCU
In April, Aberdeen Proving Ground Federal Credit Union (APGFCU) officially announced its new business partnership with Bay View Elementary School (BVES) in North East, Md. The partnership was announced during BVES's Spring Fling Night by Principal Jenni Hammer. Tina Mike, AVP of financial education and Digna Barretto, financial literacy educator represented APG Federal Credit Union.
With this partnership, APG Federal Credit Union will make financial education presentations in classrooms for every grade level, host free money management seminars for parents, school staff and community members, and provide recognition and reward incentives for student and school achievement.
Promoting financial literacy is not new to APG Federal Credit Union. The credit union has funded free, public education on financial management to children and adults for more than twenty years. Since 1995, APGFCU has partnered with five other schools in Cecil and Harford counties providing free financial literacy programs and wealth-building resources to youth and adults tailored to the needs of the school community.
APGFCU received the inaugural Lifetime Achiever Award in 2011 by the national Education Credit Union Council in recognition of its long-term strategy for delivering the best in financial education. Last year, the credit union delivered nearly 430 financial presentations to over 10,150 students in Cecil and Harford counties.
APGFCU is committed to building strong families for a stronger community with 10 branches in Cecil and Harford counties and an eleventh scheduled for Fallston in late 2012. Membership is free and open to everyone who lives, works, worships, volunteers, or attends school in Cecil County or Harford County.
