Q. How can I find out my credit score?
A. You can request one free annual credit report once every 12 months from each of the credit reporting companies:
Visit AnnualCreditReport.com. When you get your free report, you can purchase your score for a small fee.
Q. Since interest rates are low, should I refinance my home and payoff my credit cards at the same time?
A. You can include some of your high-interest rate credit cards into your mortgage refinance, as long as there is sufficient equity in your home. Please call me at 410-272-4000, ext. 5555 to discuss your options.
Q. Does APGFCU have any pre-payment penalties on home loans?
A.To clarify, a pre-payment penalty is a charge paid to the lender if your loan is repaid before the term is over. No, APGFCU does not have any pre-payment penalties on our loans.
Q. I applied for a mortgage and was told I need private mortgage insurance because my loan to value (LTV) is over 80%. What is private mortgage insurance?
A. Private mortgage insurance (PMI) is insurance written by a private mortgage insurance company to protect the lender against losses in case of a mortgage default. This is commonly required on loan transactions involving less than a 20% down payment or equity position.
