Shred-It Day 2009

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10
9:00 am – 1:00 pm
(RAIN OR SHINE)
ABERDEEN, ELKTON, EDGEWOOD & LAUREL BUSH BRANCHES

On October 10, APGFCU will sponsor our annual Shred-It Day event at the Aberdeen, Elkton, Edgewood, and Laurel Bush branches. Members are invited to bring old personal records to specially equipped Shred-It® trucks that will shred the papers into tiny bits.

Shred your old financial papers and eliminate the threat to your personal information security. It’s one of the first and easiest ways to protect yourself against “dumpster-divers” and burglars. They can’t steal what you don’t have!

  • FREE to members (please bring ID card)
  • Limited to TWO file boxes or TWO grocery bags
  • Paper only – no plastic
  • No need to remove staples, paper clips or bindings
  • No need to separate grades or colors of paper

Not sure what to shred? Here’s a suggested list of what to keep and for how long:

Credit Card Receipts 45 Days
Pay Check Stubs 1 Year
Credit Union Records 1 Year
Bills 1 Year
House Records 6 Years
Credit Card Statements 7 Years
Tax Records 7 Years
Annual Retirement /Savings Plan Statements Until You Retire
IRA Contributions Permanently

The Shred-it® trucks will be located in the parking lots of the four branches for easy access. Click here for directions.

Shred-It® Recycles - Not only are you securing your most confidential materials, you're also helping to secure the well-being of the environment. The shredded material that goes to the Shred-It® facilities is baled and delivered to recycling mills. You get the satisfaction of knowing that your shredded materials return to the marketplace as items like recycled household paper products!
