Elementary School

At the elementary school level, students are introduced to money and saving in a fun, interactive way. Each one hour session covers a variety of topics with each lesson laying the foundation for future lessons. Session activities reinforce reading, writing, math and teamwork skills. The sessions are available to all students Pre-K through 5th grade.

Lesson fun facts include-

Money identification, including value and face recognition Moola Moola
Sorting and counting money
Saving, spending and sharing
Introduction to saving and earning dividends
Money security features
Earning money
Budgeting
Check writing and endorsing
* Students may also enjoy a special visit from our APGFCU Mascot, Moola Moola.


Middle School

Middle school lessons review elementary concepts but explore them in much greater detail. Student at this age are starting to earn and acquire money on a more regular basis and lessons emphasize making wise money management decisions. Interactive lessons reinforce reading, writing, math and teamwork skills.

Session topics include-

Earning Money STARSS
Creating a plan for savings and spending A.K.A. “ a budget”
Understanding various long and short term savings products
Understanding the power of saving and compound interest
Checking account lesson including a statement balancing activity
Understanding ATM, Debit and Check Cards and Online Banking
Credit-Understanding the power and responsibility
Making wise consumer choices
Careers and their financial impact on your future

High School

At the high school level, we are preparing students for their futures in college, the work force and as independent, financially responsible, young adults. Each one-hour lesson will go into greater detail as we explore and teach necessary financial life skills.

Topics include-

Savings; benefits, types of accounts, short and long term savings goals STARSS
Checking; traditional and electronic account management
Budgeting; setting and achieving your financial goals
Credit; understanding the different types of credit, understanding your credit report, establishing and maintaining good credit
Understanding Insurances; types and why you need them
Careers; resources for finding jobs, application, resume and interviewing skills, understand what employers expect of their employees
Planning for and affording college/higher education; education plays a vital role in your future earning potential.


Adults

Adults of all ages will benefit from APGFCU's Education and Financial Workshops, which cover a variety of financial topics we will encounter throughout our lives. The workshops are free and open to everyone. Some workshops are available in Spanish.
