For High School Seniors:

Type  Description Required GPA
Business Scholarship A $2,000 scholarship to a high school senior who is planning to pursue post secondary education in a Business field of study or certification program. 3 or above

Teacher Education Scholarship A $1,000 scholarship to a high school senior who is planning to pursue a degree in teacher education. 3 or above

Science / Math / Technical Scholarship A $1,000 scholarship to a high school senior who is planning to pursue post secondary education in a technical field of study or certification program. 3 or above

Harford County Chamber of Commerce plans and promotes mutually beneficial activities that will enhance the efforts of the public and private education system in its role of educating our future workforce. It promotes higher education through scholarship awards and develops formal business/education partnerships between educational institutions and the business community.

GENERAL CRITERIA FOR ALL SCHOLARSHIPS:

  1. Be a Harford County resident currently in the senior year of high school who will continue with post-secondary education as a full time student in the designated field of the selected scholarship.
  2. The applicant must register for a minimum 12 credits per semester (or equivalent for the technical scholarship) beginning the1st fall after high school graduation.
  3. Have a minimum cumulative grade point average as listed on the Scholarship Summary Description. The Scholarship Committee may waive the GPA requirement upon documentation of special circumstances.
  4. Complete a Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Application, complete the required essay, and submit required supporting documentation as listed on the application.
  5. All Harford Community College Foundation funds must be applied toward tuition and fees up to $1,900 per year. A check will be made payable to the recipient and to Harford Community College Foundation. All other scholarship funds must be applied toward fees, books and/or tuition. A check will be made payable to the recipient and to the post-secondary institution of the student’s choice.
  6. The Scholarship Committee shall be composed of members of the Harford County Chamber of Commerce and sponsors’ representatives. The Scholarship Committee will select the award recipients. Applicant may apply for more than one scholarship, but can only be granted one award. If you are applying for more than one scholarship, please submit applications and supporting materials for each. The Scholarship Committee reserves the right to award the scholarship to the most overall qualified applicant based on any or all of the selection criteria. The decision of the Scholarship Committee is final.
  7. Internships, as described, may be available through the first year sponsor if the minimum GPA is maintained in the freshman year. The Engineering Technology scholarships require the student to be at least 18 to participate in the internship. Students must comply with all the rules, policies and procedures of the sponsor. The Harford Community College Foundation, Inc. will continue the scholarship for the second year at Harford Community College if the minimum GPA is maintained.
  8. Applications and supporting materials must be postmarked to the Harford County Chamber of Commerce Office on or before April 15th. Awards will be announced by May. Presentation of the scholarships will take place at the Harford County Chamber of Commerce June Luncheon.
