Be an Involved Member: Volunteer Opportunities at APGFCU
One thing that makes APGFCU stand out from other financial institutions
is our volunteers. Giving of their time and talent, volunteers
are essential to the day-to-day functioning and operation of our
credit union.
For example, because we are a cooperative not-for-profit organization,
APGFCU's Board of Directors are members who volunteer their
time to serve. The directors are elected each year by the membership
of the credit union. Not only do you as a member have the chance
to vote for your board members, but you may run for the board
as well. Members will often serve on committees before running
for the Board of Directors. Such committees include:
- Supervisory. Member volunteers are appointed annually
by the Board of Directors to independently monitor the internal
controls of the credit union. The committee seeks to maintain
a high level of internal control quality and to ensure that
management's financial reporting objectives are met and that
their practices and procedures safeguard member assets.
- Community Involvement. This committee develops
proposals for the Board for ways to involve APGFCU in
a meaningful and identifiable community enterprise, including
consulting, volunteered time, and monetary donation.
- Credit Appeals. This committee meets with members who
request a review of actions that led to their loan application
denial.
- Technology. Members review the current and future needs
for online electronic financial services in order to serve as
a planning and advisory group to the Board of Directors.
- Volunteer Recruitment. Members recruit, interview,
and recommend for selection only qualified volunteers
with genuine interest and motivation who can have a positive,
tangible impact on the successful achievement of APGFCU.
Volunteering for your credit union is a great way to expand
your skills while helping others. Our Volunteer Achievement
Program offers extensive training through self-study courses
provided by CUNA (Credit Union National Association),
so you are always fully prepared.
Make a contribution to the future of APGFCU by participating
in these committees!
