APGFCU AWARDS $1,000 TO LOCAL WINNERS OF ITS “SPOTLIGHT A SOLDIER” CONTEST
(Aberdeen, July 22, 2010) — Aberdeen Proving Ground Federal Credit Union [APGFCU] is proud to announce the local prize winners of its “Spotlight a Soldier” essay contest. The contest invited APGFCU member-owners to nominate local military servicemen or women they feel have distinguished themselves with exceptional courage, kindness, compassion, unselfish character or acts of heroism
The two winners were selected by a panel of APGFCU judges and awarded a total of $1,000 on Thursday, July 8, 2010. Two $500 Visa® gift cards were awarded to:
Brigadier General Guy M. Walsh of Bel Air, MD Colonel John F. Kutcher, Sr. of Churchville, MD

COL (Retired) John F. Kutcher, Sr. was nominated by Brigadier General (MD) Arthur W. Pulket. These gentlemen have been personal friends and military comrades for over 45 years. They are also lifelong members of the 175th Infantry Regiment Association, and their combined affiliation with the Regiment is in excess of 107 years. In 1968, then Major Pulket was then Lieutenant Kutcher’s first boss at the Dundalk Armory, the Headquarters of the 2nd Battalion, 175th Infantry.
As part of Military Appreciation Month, the “Spotlight a Soldier” contest demonstrated APGFCU's dedication to serving the financial needs and improving the financial wellness of military families. The contest ran May 1 – May 31, 2010, and was open to all APGFCU member-owners.
