Gene Wlock and Barb Lawson
(Aberdeen, March 10, 2010) — APGFCU is proud to announce that Barb Lawson, APGFCU’s Aberdeen Branch Manager, received an award for her outstanding contributions to the 2009 Harford County Toys for Tots collection drive.
On February 24, 2010, Gene Wlock, Harford County’s Toys for Tots Coordinator and Judge Advocate for the Harford County Marine Corps League Detachment, recognized Ms. Lawson for her role in helping APGFCU become one of the top Toys for Tots donors in Harford County in 2009 and presented her with a commemorative wall plaque in appreciation of her efforts.
Ms. Lawson stated: “I am honored to receive this recognition. We began working with the Toys for Tots organization three years ago with the hope of improving the holidays for our most economically disadvantaged children. Each year since then, our drives have grown due to the increased generosity of APGFCU’s member-owners.”
In 2009, Harford County Toys for Tots collected over 19,000 toys which were distributed to 2,800 local deserving children over the Christmas holiday.
The mission of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is to assist the U.S. Marine Corps in providing a tangible sign of hope to economically disadvantaged children at Christmas. For more information on Toys for Tots, visit www.toysfortots.org.
Aligned with APGFCU’s mission to provide assistance to segments of underserved populations, the annual Toys for Tots drives successfully demonstrate the credit union mission of, “People Helping People.” Each of APGFCU’s nine branches participated in the 2009 Toys for Toys drive with plans to continue in 2010.
