APGFCU Announces 2009 MBRT Achievement Counts Speakers Bureau Volunteers
(Aberdeen, November 19, 2009) — Aberdeen Proving Ground Federal Credit Union [APGFCU] is proud to announce its 2008-2009 volunteers for the Maryland Business Roundtable for Education [MBRT] Achievement Counts Speakers Bureau program: Susan Kemen, Senior Vice President, Operations; Tina Mike, Assistant Vice President, Financial Education; Michael Ches, Financial Education Specialist; Digna Barretto, Education Specialist; and, Sonya Pietrogiacomo, Education Specialist.
In order to successfully complete the required training, each APGFCU volunteer attended a three-hour training session and made four 45-minute classroom presentations to high school students at a high school of their choice in Maryland.
Achievement Counts volunteers make a positive impact on the lives of Maryland’s young people by donating their time to talk to students about their own work and school experiences while encouraging students to work hard to succeed in college, the workplace, and in life.
Created by MBRT, Achievement Counts demonstrates the importance of completing rigorous coursework and the vital connection between achievement in school and success in the workplace and in life. In the past 10 years, more than 3,000 volunteers have spoken to 500,000 students statewide.
A coalition of nearly 100 major Maryland employers, MBRT is currently recruiting professionals from various careers, educational, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds to volunteer for the 2010 Achievement Counts program. For more information, visit www.mbrt.org.
