Young CEO Will Dehoo To Speak At APGFCU’s Annual Employee Conference & Local High Schools
(Aberdeen, October 8, 2009) — Aberdeen Proving Ground Federal Credit Union [APGFCU] is proud to welcome Will deHoo, President/CEO and founder of FoolProof, as Keynote Speaker for its annual employee conference on Monday, October 12, 2009, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, at the Richlin Ballroom in Edgewood, MD.
APGFCU invites all media to meet deHoo who will be available for private interviews on Monday, October 12, 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., by appointment.
DeHoo will discuss the importance of teaching consumer advocacy and financial literacy, particularly to youth, in Harford and Cecil counties and relating the mission to the employees at APGFCU.
The ins and outs of finances can be difficult to understand, but FoolProof presents unbiased financial education for teachers, parents, kids, teens and young adults in an understandable way. Offering five consumer-oriented financial literacy modules -- from teaching key financial skills to addressing the concerns of credit and checking delinquencies -- FoolProof is aimed primarily at young people and includes dynamic, hard-hitting message videos.
DeHoo stated, “APGFCU’s FoolProof programs provide real consumer advocacy and financial education training to all consumers, members of APGFCU or not. We’re so proud to be a part of that effort and I am so happy to be here personally to help launch these programs.”
On Tuesday, October 13, deHoo will visit five high schools in Harford County to speak to students and faculty about FoolProof and the importance of financial literacy. DeHoo will visit Edgewood, Havre de Grace, Bel Air, C. Milton Wright, and Joppatowne High Schools.
Over the past year, deHoo has given over 100 talks in eight states on financial literacy and the importance of student financial education. He has spoken at high schools, regional conferences, and credit unions. DeHoo has worked with FoolProof for over 4 years, and has done the key design on all modules.
Endorsed by the National Association of Consumer Advocates, the Consumer Federation of America, and the Credit Abuse Resistance Education [CARE] program, FoolProof is provided free to all members and consumers.
Financial literacy education is one of the cornerstones that has allowed APGFCU to thrive in its first 71 years, bringing long-term value to its members and communities, and forming the foundation for its future.
