APGFCU’s 2009 Community Invitational at Ripken Stadium is a Hit

(Aberdeen, October 5, 2009) — Aberdeen Proving Ground Federal Credit Union [APGFCU] hosted its 5th annual Community Invitational Tournament for local youth softball and baseball teams on Sunday, September 20, 2009, at the Ripken Youth Baseball Academy in Aberdeen.
Sixteen 11u/12u teams from Harford and Cecil County recreational councils participated in this grand slam tournament at no cost, allowing many of them an unprecedented opportunity for tournament play and the “Ripken Experience.”
In addition to the free tournament, participants were treated to tournament t-shirts, canvas backpacks, baseball banks, and lunch. By Sunday afternoon, four teams for each sport played the Semi-Finals and then the final Championship Game, where trophies were awarded to all players on the 1st and 2nd place tournament teams.
