APGFCU Donates Supplies to Benefit Local Schools & Help Feed the Hungry
APGFCU’S Education Team with School Supplies
(Aberdeen, September 30, 2009) — Aberdeen Proving Ground Federal Credit Union [APGFCU] hosted two successful community donation drives in August and September, collecting new school supplies for partner schools in Harford and Cecil County and non-perishable food for deserving families in Harford County.
During its annual “Back-to-School Supply Drive,” August 1 – September 5, APGFCU member-owners and employees donated hundreds of new backpacks, lunch bags, notebooks, crayons, glue sticks, and more, to help students at APGFCU’s partner schools in Harford and Cecil counties. Collected items were distributed to the excited school children in September.
Employees at APGFCU’s Edgewood branch collected over 550 pounds of food, August 13 – September 8, to benefit the Harford Community Action Agency [HCAA] Food Bank in Edgewood. The food drive was a challenge to employees to illustrate the credit union mission of “People Helping People.” The donated items, including much-needed staples like spaghetti sauce, noodles, peanut butter, jelly, and assorted canned vegetables will help the HCAA Food Bank provide free food to up to 45 deserving families a day.
