(Aberdeen, January 21, 2009) —For the 22nd year, the employees of Aberdeen Proving Ground Federal Credit Union [APGFCU] proudly partnered with the Salvation Army and their Angel Tree Program in December to provide assistance to families in need in the Harford County communities during the holiday season. APGFCU staff gave generously, collecting and wrapping hundreds of toys and gifts of clothing for 24 deserving children in Harford County.
Through the Angel Tree program, local families in need register their children for Christmas gifts through The Salvation Army. Shoppers may purchase all the items on a child’s wish list or simply donate extra gifts they may have purchased while shopping. Once donations are collected, the Salvation Army sorts and distributes the gifts to the families before Christmas Eve.
“The Angel Tree Program provides an opportunity for APGFCU to make a difference for the families in our local communities, demonstrating our ‘people helping people’ philosophy," said Lynne MacLeod, APGFCU Angle Tree program coordinator.
