January Jump Start to Reading
(Aberdeen, February 7, 2008) —
Aberdeen Proving Ground Federal Credit Union [APGFCU] will proudly participate in the annual January Jump Start to Reading 2008 book drive through the end of the month. As in the past five years, each of APGFCU’s eight branches will accept donations of new and gently used books for local community children ages two through college.
“The book drive gives children the resources to develop literacy skills and experience the joy and imagination of reading. APGFCU is committed to helping change lives and to turning children into readers. This on-going initiative is a prime example of our mission to help people in our communities,” stated Tina Mike, Education Director, APGFCU.
APGFCU’s January Jump Start to Reading book drive was developed with special emphasis on disadvantaged children. Recent studies confirm that the availability of reading material is the strongest predictor of a child’s ability to read and academic achievement.
Collection bins are located in the lobbies of each of APGFCU’s branches located in Aberdeen, Amyclae, Bel Air, Edgewood, Elkton, Havre DeGrace, Laurel Bush, and Aberdeen Proving Ground. Book donations will be accepted at all branches through January 31, 2008. For more information, visit one of APGFCU’s eight convenient locations or call 1-800-225-2555, press four, for details.
