What is a Credit Union?
Credit unions are not-for-profit financial service cooperatives,
owned and controlled by their member-owners, and operating in
a democratic way. What difference does that make?
Co-ops
are businesses, but a cooperative
operates solely for the member-owners' benefit. All co-op businesses
run in accordance with seven basic principles.
 |
Open and voluntary member-ownership. |
 |
Democratic member control. |
 |
Member economic participation. |
 |
Autonomy and independence. |
 |
Education, training, and information. |
 |
Cooperation among cooperatives. |
 |
Concern for community. |
Why Are We Here? Not for Profit,
Not for Charity, but for Service!
Our reputation for quality service is based on our commitment
to you, our member-owners. Your unique needs play a key role in
every decision we make. The credit union spirit lives in our
values and these values guide us in everything we do:
 |
Our member-ownership comes first. |
 |
We embrace change and evolve minute by
minute because it benefits our member-owners. |
 |
We improve the quality of member-owners' lives. |
 |
We provide quality service that exceeds
our member-owners' expectations. |
 |
We employ, train, and develop credit unionists
from the best the market can supply. |
 |
We are a credit union movement leader. |
Our Mission
Our mission is to empower our member-owners to use and control
their money to improve their economic and social condition
by operating our credit union as a member-ownership-driven democratic
cooperative, not-for-profit financial institution, encouraging
thrift among our member-owners, and creating a source of credit
at a fair and reasonable rate of interest.
