Are you prepared for the threat of severe weather this season?

Ensure that you and your loved ones have everything you need and stock your home with necessary supplies. At a minimum, you should have:

Several clean containers for water (about 5 gallons per person).
A 3-5 day supply of non-perishable food.
A first aid kit and manual.
A battery-powered radio, flashlights, and extra batteries.
Prescription medicines and special medical needs.
Baby food and/or prepared formula, diapers, and other baby supplies.
An emergency kit for your car with food, flares, booster cables, maps, tools, a first aid kit, fire extinguisher, sleeping bags, etc.

When disaster strikes, senior citizens and people with disabilities can be especially vulnerable. For those who depend on the mail for their Social Security benefits, a difficult situation can become worse if they are evacuated or lose their mail service – as 85,000 check recipients learned after Hurricane Katrina. Switching to direct deposit is one simple, significant way people can protect themselves before disaster strikes. Go Direct® makes switching to direct deposit fast and easy – and it's free.
